As part of a newly created position supporting the development of our XtraChêne oak alternatives brand, Chêne & Cie is recruiting
a Sales Representative for its oak alternative and cooperage portfolio to oversee Southern Italy and Sicily.
Primary mission
The Sales Representative for Southern Italy is primarily responsible for expanding sales of oak alternatives (French and American oak) under the XtraChêne brand, both directly and through a network of agents and distributors across the vineyards of Southern Italy and Sicily.
They will implement the regional sales strategy, track performance and submit regular reports to the Sales Director.
Responsibilities
- Drive distribution of XtraChêne products and the cooperage portfolio of the Chêne & Cie group under the supervision of the Sales Manager for Italy.
- Build customer loyalty and further develop the existing customer base through direct sales.
- Establish and manage a network of XtraChêne distributors to optimise regional coverage and drive sales growth.
- Manage distributor performance (targets, training, action plans and regular follow-up).
- Organise and participate in trade fairs, industry events and customer visits across the region.
- Conduct competitive intelligence and report market insights (trends, pricing, offers, and opportunities).
Scope
The role focuses primarily on developing sales of XtraChêne oak alternatives (approximately 80% of working time), while also identifying opportunities for other brands and products within the Chêne & Cie group portfolio.
Candidate profile
- Italian national or deeply familiar with Italian culture, with robust knowledge of the country’s wine regions.
- Native-level Italian, with a good command of French or English.
- Educational background in sales, winemaking or a related field.
- Proven success in direct sales and distributor management in the wine industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with demonstrated experience in managing a sales network.
- Ability to work independently, mobile, proactive and strongly results-driven.
Reporting
Reports to the Sales Manager for Italy at Chêne & Cie, with operational reporting to the XtraChêne Sales Director.
Location
Ideally based in Southern Italy, with regular travel across the region and to Sicily.
Compensation and benefits
Attractive package including a fixed salary, performance-based bonus and company car.
- Salary: €38,000-€42,000 depending on background and experience, plus variable compensation
- Profit-sharing and statutory employee-participation schemes (averaging at 2 months’ salary in recent financial years)
